A little Sadie story

We walked halfway home from church and then Jason came and rescued the kids from the heat. He drove them home backwards. Lucky there is not much traffic in the storm drain he was driving through. Exciting! They thought it was cool.

I love the little story these photos tell...Cute Sadie and loving Nanna

Happy girl! Nanna soon hereafter leaned the bowl over and let Sadie scoop straight from it. I have the cutest photo of this little topless gal with a big chocolatey smile.

Twin Lakes Fishing Trip in Dallas, TX

Yeah, it's fishing day. The kids were so excited to get out and use the real fishing gear. Ali and Sadie got their hair in matching hair-dos which made them both very happy. Tyler borrowed the super cool Texas star hat. and we were off. Much fishing was accomplished.
( This is my lesson in white balance....Off topic for a minute here. The photo above was taken on my regular camera settings. Then I did an auto white balance setting there at the pond and the photos turned out amazing. The color was so much richer and more lifelike. Hollie and Jozie are really a golden bronze color those lucky ducks. Mental note....set white balance if you want awesome photos.)

The photo below is by far my most favorite photo I have taken since I got my new camera. I think Sadie looks like a little porcelain doll. Love that girly!

Also accomplished was much line tangling. Poor Phil was the official untangler. Apparently it is the story of his life.
The fisherman down the row gave us some worms and viola. Ali caught a fish. She was equally grossed out and thrilled. I think they called it a blue gill or something close to that. Everyone wanted to touch it including Sadie.
When Jozsef caught Sadie her own fish she didn't want to touch it again. One slimy fish was enough for her to experience in one afternoon.

Fourth of July in Dallas, TX

We made it. It wasn't easy we had a false start on the 3rd. Went to the airport, got on a plane, sat for two hours, got off the plane, went home and tried again the next day. Thankfully on the fourth of July we were successful in transporting ourselves to Dallas for a fun week to celebrate Nanny Pollan turning 90 Years Old! Can you believe it? We also got to meet this cute little guy with Ali and Tyler. Jozsef Davies Szamosfalvi, this cute little wonder of a boy is our newest nephew. My children were in love with him. They got really good at holding a baby. Ali even learned how to chance a diaper, though she would only put the new diaper on and not deal with the old dirty diaper. She's not ready to be babysitter of the year yet.
As it should our Fourth of July consisted of swimming in the pool. No it was not a wave pool, Carter just had fun creating big rolling waves with his float there. We also enjoyed delicious BBQ lunch or maybe dinner.
Since it was America's special day and all Phil hung the American flag instead of the usual Texas flag in honor of our visit. We are glad to see the American flag has a place of honor in his heart as well as the beloved Texas flag.
I am proud to be an American. I love this great country of ours and I hope we can hold it together for another hundred plus years and more. It is a great place to live and raise a family.
These sweet ones are heading to the duck pond/turtle pond near Byron's folks place. They tried their hand at some light fishing with hand made poles. Not too successful though we did see lots of turtles and lots of fish, nothing was actually caught.
They have put in a strange new cement wall around the pond which is build of cement bags stacked all the way around the pond. Not opened or mixed cement, just bags. They have soaked in water and created a really sturdy wall, interesting landscaping but it looks pretty good.

woops-haircut and swim lessons

One of the things I do around here is dish out haircuts. We do them frequently and we try to keep things short. Our boys are not aces in the combing department. Tyler though has really wanted longer hair lately so we have given him chances to grow it out, if he can keep it combed he keeps his hair, if not we give him a buzz. According to the photos here you would think he had failed and we buzzed him but no. He was doing pretty well so I told him I would give him a haircut like his Dad's, still short but needing a comb. Unfortunately for Tyler I forgot to put the guard on the buzzer and seriously torched the front of his longish hair. So, here he is looking handsome and ready to enlist in the army. Poor Ty. Lucky thing is his hair grows fast. Won't be too much time at all until it is longish again. As punishment for my terrible hair-cutting skills we took Ty and his buddy Lance out for Jimmy Johns and Zuka Juices. He also got to skip church the first week.  He was pretty self conscious about his new do. Sorry Ty!!!

A few quick snaps of the kids at their summer swimming lessons up at the neighbors swim classes they run. Jason did a good job wrangling all the kids into learning and reviewing their strokes. The kids were able to run up the hill to the Kofoeds while I was tutoring, have their class and walk back home by themselves. It is nice to have such a close pool.
