Igloo 2

Well, they have done it again. This time we were smarter and recruited more help for the igloo building extravaganza. With much team effort, okay really Byron, Chortney and Carter worked, everyone else had fun playing in the snow; they build another amazing igloo.

It took about four hours.  I came over occasionally to take photos. My lead roll was hot-chocolate maker or any coming back to the house to warm up. We used every mug in the house. In the photo above Byron is doing his warm-up dance.

Look at those looks of accomplishment. It isn't everyday you build an igloo. It was pretty humid in there once you filled it with warm bodies. Also it does stay above freezing which is saying a lot since it has been below zero a few nights lately. Byron runs across the street to do temperature checks occasionally. He is doing research for future igloo builds.

To my utter astonishment and amazement this igloo has been slept in twice. Byron, Carter, Tyler and Ali all spent a night in it. Ali made it until about 3:30 and then Byron brought her home. The boys slept in until about 9:30.  I was about ready to walk over and see if they had frozen to death during the night.

Chortney, Chandler and Nathaniel also spent a night in the igloo. They all made it until around 6:30 when they staggered in for hot chocolate.

Impressive work gentlemen and little lady!

You will not find me sleeping in an igloo across the street from my warm electric-blanket heated bed. I am glad they had a good time though. Seems like a once in a lifetime event to me but Byron is planning their back country igloo experience.

Christmas Dinner/ Cousin Time

Christmas day dinner at my parents house. It is full of good food and fun times. The cousins do a little gift exchange and we give our gifts to my parents. They of course have a few things for us and our kids as well. So pretty much another Christmas morning.
My Mom always does such a great job keeping us all happy and well fed. It is no small feat to get a crew this big entertained and fed. We are a handful.
Ali and Kate are a wicked combo for darling photo ops. These girls are definitely worthy of the camera lens. Ali sure loves it when she gets the chance to hold little Kate.
Kids table. Lots of kids, lots of messes, lots of laughing.
Look at Rachel's cute smile...she is such a darling girl! Everyone is growing up too fast.

Cousin Time at Kangaroo Zoo

What else is there to do with 19 grandchildren ranging from 21-1 years old?
We had a blast jumping, sliding, racing and being crazy at the Zoo.
James is looking super cool with his feet swish going on up at the top of the slide. It's a miracle their equipment stood up to the fun we had on them.
I don't know what Tommy is about to do but it looks like Jake might be recovering from a head-butt of some sort. Love the look of delight on Tommy's face. Such an energetic guy!!!
Love that Jake Marie and their four boys could come out for the holidays. I absolutely adore this wink Joey is giving me here. He is such a sweet heart!

Christmas Eve/ Christmas Morning

 Livsey Christmas Eve Recital

We had such a fun time entertaining each other and performing for our crowd. It was fun to see how all the cousins have grown in their talents in the last year.

I helped put on the puppet show of the nativity. Luckily we still have enough puppets to go around.
We had to say good-bye to Elfis on Christmas Eve. Luckily he will be back next year. Now he heads back to the north pole to help santa for next year's preparations.  The photo of our kids in the snow is out front of our house. They are sprinkling magic reindeer dust on the snow so Santa's reindeer will be able to locate our pad easily. We also left 12 carrots and half a dozen cookies out. You can't be too careful with these things. Somehow our kids guessed that their Christmas-Eve present was going to be pajamas this year. They are onto me I think.
Christmas morning....best day of the year!

Ali got Byron the awesome hunting hat he is wearing. It is reversible so he can be camo or bright orange. She was pleased he liked his gift quite a lot.

There was a bit of a theme with the boy gifts. Nice timing after the big school shooting the country just suffered through but our presents were bought and wrapped before the country went anti-gun on us. Our boys were thrilled with their new guns they all got. Tyler had been begging for a bb-gun. Byron has been lusting after the gun I got him for a while now. Luckily it was the right one. Carter was surprised and thrilled he got a real 22. He was wondering if he was going to get one while he was still 12 year old. I guess all the men have been talking about it as a right of passage type event at 12 years old. Byron picked Carter's gun out. It is pretty tough looking. Now all we need is a warm day so they can go shooting.

No gun for Ali she wanted a Barbie dream house and got one. Lucky girl. It even has an elevator. Happy faces is what we are going for and we had a whole house full of them on Christmas morning.

Byron, Carter, Tyler and I got to go see the Savior of the World production downtown. It was a fun and beautiful reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. The boys really enjoyed it and we had such a fun time getting out and enjoying Temple Square during the Christmas Season.

My cute niece Amanda was a light stringer this fall. She was waiting to leave on her mission and spent hours and hours downtown stringing the beautiful lights! They were gorgeous better than ever knowing she had a hand in it.

ALTA, UT This is where you will find us on the weekends. Actually more specifically Alfs Lodge drinking hot chocolate with Ali around 3:00 on almost any given Saturday. We even know the hot chocolate guy now. He gives us extra whip-cream.

Elfis has been causing more trouble around our place. I think he might need to be put on the naughty list. Really a snowball fight on my kitchen table with the stuffed Iguana?

Lydia's Baptism

We were so glad we could  make it up to Idaho for Lydia's baptism. Matthew was able to baptize her and he did a great job. The kids had lots of fun checking out the Goodsell's new digs. They moved recently and it was the cousins first chance to see their new house. They also met their bunnies and chickens. It was a short but sweet trip!

December Dance Recital

 Ali's Dance Performance
 Ali, Gabby and Danny
Make-up, hair, warm-ups, excitement, anticipation, girls!

It was imperative that Ali receive flowers after her big performance. I think the flowers are her favorite part. Byron won the prize for picking them up for us on his way to the show.
And of course we had to go out after to celebrate how amazing the girls were. Ali's love dance was a hit, glowing flowers and all!
