Tyler and I had a good day today. We had a nice breakfast at the Hotel Del Sol we are staying at. They had awesome almond crescents which are a favorite of mine. We were able to find out way to our bus stop without a problem. It took us right to the hospital UCSF and we made it to the outpatient unit almost on time. His blood results came back a little off I think because the doctor on call for the weekend wanted to talk with me and asked me how he was feeling, if he was eating, etc. Not sure what that means but maybe that he is getting the real medicine. I am hopeful. He really is feeling pretty good though. He does have a slight cold still so that could be messing with his blood results as well. Hard for me to know as I am not a doctor. I am trying to steal glances at Ty's chart whenever I can as well to see if they are putting anything useful on those. So far I haven't confirmed anything.
We did pass the blood screening today and got permission to go ahead with the drug dose. They premeditated him with the ibuprofen and the benadryl again as usual. After waiting our thirty minutes they began the dosage. The med drip went off without a hitch and we ate our yummy hospital lunch. Ty told me last night he prefers the cheeseburgers and shakes from the hospital over a restaurant. That is quite the compliment to give a hospital cafeteria. He of course did eat the cheeseburger and banana chocolate shake again. I tried the caesar salad. It was pretty good.
The best part was after we were all finished Ty really wanted to stay in the All-Star Room and play video games. He only got ten minutes in during his treatment time as they had only opened the room at two o'clock, just as we were leaving. So I decided it was Ty's trip and as much as I wanted to go hit the city, he just wanted to chill and play video games. I sat out in the atrium and read my book for another hour and a half while he played this awesome new fun game he had just found named Knack. He loved it and had a great time.
We left around 3:45 and walked around Golden Gate Park for a bit. Ty kind of moves in slow motion though so we didn't get far and he was ready to head out of there. We saw the children's playground where he climbed on a really awesome rope structure for a while. Then we passed hippy hill which did not disappoint. Lots of hippies playing bongo drums in a big music circle. After that was passed the Conservatory but it had just closed and was prepping for a wedding. Still an impressive building. Then we ran across the Roller skating/Roller blading section where there was a group of groovy skaters. They brought their music and were dancing and skating around. It was amusing and we had a nice rest while watching them.
We found a nearby bus and headed back towards our hotel. We tried to eat at Tacolicious near our hotel for dinner but ended up across the street at Los Hermanos. It was yum and only $4.50 an enchilada. Pretty sweet deal. Then we decided it would be worth the walk to backtrack a few blocks to get a cupcake at Kara's Cupcake. We had them boxed up to eat as our snack when we got home.
We walked back to our hotel and played a round of Bananagrams out on the patio under the palm trees. It was fun. We loaded up on hot water for some vitamin C tea and headed back up to our room. We drank our tea and ate our cupcakes. Yum.
Topping the night off we wrapped Tyler's mid-line in a waterproof system so his mid-line wouldn't get wet and Ty took a quick shower. We are enjoying Harry Potter as we real and head to bed. It's been another long day and we are happy to be hulled up in our hotel room ready for some rest. We are going to church in the am and then heading over to the hospital right after.
We are jetting around San Fran on their bus system. Working like a charm thus far.
Enjoying the much loved All Star Room in the hospital.
Ty at the top of his game.
Ty with the awesome conservatory in the background.
I could not resist this photo of these cute ladies peeking into the windows at the conservatory. They were just too darling.
