This cute gal in her new white dress. "Stylish" as Ally used to say.
The challenge issued by Byron: Take apart a week wacker and attach it to something and make it go. Reward: Dirt Bike Carter has accepted a challenge Byron dished out. He has taken apart a weed wacker. Tried multiple things. Watched some You Tube geniuses and with a little help on some welding from our neighbor Mark Johnson got this bike electrical. It is amazing. You start it up with a swift turn of the pedal and the weed wacker engine kicks in. The old right brake is the throttle and this baby goes. Now, it doesn't go twenty miles per hour of anything but it does move along around 4-5mph on the flat. Pretty slick. Time to pay up Byron! We went out to Five Guys to celebrate and were talking about the upcoming Dirt Bike and ran into two Honda Trail 110 bikes. One fully restored, one a little rougher. Byron was astonished as this is the exact bike he wants to get for Carter. What luck! Carter loved them and the hunt has begun. Apparently they are quite collectible and a bit hard to come by.
Ally sleeps in the mess of softness and fluff every night. There have been times when I have literally lost her in all her fuzzy companions.
The end of an era. We have had a bit of a struggle with some moths that came into the house on some birdfood we were storing in a cupboard. It has taken me a year to rid our cupboards in the kitchen of the devils. At some point I transferred something from my cupboard to the basement and the moths invaded the storage room. These blankets Byron picked up on his mission in Guatemala became the nesting ground for a whole new crop of the blasted creatures. We have now cleared the kitchen and basement of moths but not without taking a huge loss. Byron has had dreams of hanging these on a large wall in his future cabin for years. We photographed them so we can remember the patterns but they were a total loss. End of the blankets but not the end of the dream.
Little Miss Ally is keen on getting a skateboard for her birthday. She wants an orange one. She is practicing on her brothers board so she gets really good before her birthday gets here. I had my birthday the first week in March. It was highly celebrated and I felt much love but alas no photos.
Byron had his birthday the second week in March. He felt the heat from those 40 candles. He was fanning to keep himself cool. Forty looks good on him! In typical Byron fashion we had a little party at home to commemorate his big day.
Tyler had his birthday the third week in March. We eat lots of cake in March! He was pleased with his new shotgun. Carter was jealous because I guess we gave him a 22 for his 12th birthday not an actual shotgun. Oops. I blame this one on Byron, he picked it out.
So of course we had to go shooting! I love this photo of my three boys all lined up in a row shooting at clay pigeons. Fun activity. We were also pleased to have Jason and his friend Amber and her sister join us for a little Pollan shooting fun. It is nice to spend some time with Amber and get to know her a little bit. They met at a New Year's dance and have been long distance dating since. She lives up in Logan and Jason is here with us in North Salt Lake.
Family dinner in our backyard. It's fun to have the family come over and play.
Ty's birthday party....better late than never. He wanted to go up to the FlowRider in Ogden for a little surfing fun. Carter was the winner at being the natural surfer. Tyler and his buddies picked it up as the hour went on. Ally preferred boogy boarding. Super fun activity. I nearly laughed myself silly at their funny falls and surfer tricks. Awesome party Ty!
These four cute boys also have birthdays in late Feb and March so I sent them this VW tent. Mostly because I love it but looks like they are having fun in it as well. Jake's boys are the cutest quatro of trouble around. From the back forward its Joey, Tommy, Will and Greg.
What is that quote from Harry Potter...."mischief managed" Well, Ally painted Tyler's toenails while he was sleeping and he didn't notice for nearly the entire day. When he did he silently took the polish remover and removed said polish. No big fuss, no reaction. Well done Tyler.
I'm sorry to say this is all we finished of the puzzle Hollie sent us for Christmas. It's my fault, I chose the stupid puzzle with gobs of red rock and plain monochromatic blue sky, no clouds anywhere. So we gave up. We did get the sand and the popup done though before calling it quits. Thanks for the awesome gift Hollie....next time I'll have to pick a photo that is actually doable.
Braces...they seem to be the common theme in this house. Carter got his braces on for real today. Ally has decided fake braces are the way to go so she makes her own with paper and a pen. Good luck Carter...your trumpet will not like you for a while, or maybe I should say you won't like your trumpet. Bring on the tylenol.
Ally and her little bunny. The kids are not doing a great job of cleaning their bunnies cage or feeding them or giving them water. I have decided we need to do a great bunny release and let them go. They can come and go from the cage in and out of the yard. It's not fair to make them hang out in their nasty cages.
School picture time. These two cuties are getting so old. Ally is 8 for a few more days and Tyler is 12. What great kids we have!
Soccer madness! This team has been so cute together. They play hard and train hard and are all so dang nice to each other. We really have enjoyed this Boca Soccer group.
So Tyler got the priesthood when he turned twelve. He is a deacon now. This was taken the week before his first chance to pass the sacrament. Carter is showing him the routes and the ins and outs of passing in our ward. So cute to watch them together.
Bonsai!! We went a little bonsai crazy at our house after we saw this demonstration at the Red Butte Gardens Bonsai show. Ty put this work of art together at the show. Ally and I went and bought plants and containers to make our own when we got home. Bonsai trees are seriously so cool. Here's hoping we can keep them alive.
Carter in concert. Black on black is their required concert attire. They had guest performers from a Utah band who wore the white shirts. This turned out to be a fantastic concert. Ivan Rutherford who sang in Les Mis for years and years came and performed. So did Jessica Funk who is another well known performer. AISU really put on a great show. Jason brought a date to the show tonight so we got to hang out with Amber again for a few minutes. Fun to see those two getting along.
