Fun times sledding up at Charles and Lisa's place. They build a bob sled course down the side of their driveway and the kids had fun racing down it with Kate and Luke. It is as cold as it looks. Not as cold as it has been in Montana though. Byron pulled into town in January and it was minus 13 degrees. His floorboards in his car had ice in the mats. He also saw a mountain lion on his drive up to Montana and nearly drove off the road pulling over for a well - rest stop shall we say. Just because there is a snowbank on the side of the road doesn't mean there is a road under it. A guy stopped and helped pull him out. So far Montana is kicking out Utah trash. And most of us aren't even there yet. Carter's drive up with Byron went much better.
Dinner at Chuck and Lisa's house. Fun to hang out with the family. We are sure going to miss those crazy kids of theirs.
Jessie and I have taken to hiking in the mornings. It is cold but gorgeous. She didn't want to look at the camera for our selfie. There are too many birds to chase for her to have time to take a photo.
India, Ally, Jayda and Hailey came over for a little farewell party. We looked over our schedule for February and realized Byron wouldn't be able to come home and we wouldn't be able to go up there for any weekend trips so we just decided to move. We'll leave the house in the loving care of Charles and our realtor and we are moving in three days. I guess the Lord knew how to get me into a position where I just really wanted to go so we could get our family reunited again. I have hated being apart from Byron and now Carter. It has been so hard. So off we go. We will be driving down to Utah multiple times this month for the kids activities that they couldn't handle missing but at least our family will be together for the majority of the time instead of not seeing each other all month. So off we go to Montana .....
Byron moved again to a different two bedroom tiny house so we could have a bit more room. Jessie and Sammy and little Z (all but Lucy) have moved up with us. Lucy only moves once. Our neighbors in Utah are taking care of feeding her for us. Cats don't transition to new neighborhoods easily so we only want her to have to move one time. Hopefully it sill be into Blue Roof but since our Utah house still hasn't sold -urgh - who knows they could get a better off and we'd loose it. So tiny house in Montana it is for now.
Here's a photo of well, the whole place. Ally sleeps there behind Byron on a cot. The boys share a queen bed and Byron and I have a tiny room too. One bathroom for all but we are together and so happy.
This is the road out to the rental tiny homes. They don't plow so drive carefully. It is really gorgeous though a sheet of ice.
Jessie is on a tether when she goes outside to pee so we take her on lots of long walks. There is a place called Heron Park where she can run off leash and she and I go hiking up the mountain there.
Byron and I out for a snowy walk down an icy lane. Yes, it's freezing but also gorgeous.
A little break from the cold. Ally had a final tournament in St George with her Shock soccer team so Tyler, Grandma Livsey and I went down there for the games. Of course we found India as soon as possible and have enjoyed hanging with old friends. Ally's tears have dried up this weekend, thankfully.
Little bite to eat between games.
Quick trip into Zions Canyon to enjoy the gorgeousness that is our National Park. Fun to have grandma along. It was a little cold but we managed to get in a few short hikes.
Ally's Shock team played well-it was so hard saying good-bye again. Lots of plans were made for Indias family to come up for a summer trip. Hopefully we'll see them in montana soon.
Ally has started school in Montana. Her sidekick Sammy is helping her with her studies. She is having a rough go of things. Moving is enough to break my heart watching her cry over her dear friends. It's only really bad at night and when she has to leave for school in the morning. A few days we just skipped school altogether and went to the movies or shopping. Sometimes you just can't pull yourself together. It won't be long before she has a new set of dear friends that she would cry to leave but for now, it's hard. The boys are doing great. They seem to be made of tougher stuff. Tyler has found friends in the band and Carter has wiggled his way onto the robotics team. It took two weeks of asking the robotics teacher every day if there was a space that had opened up. I insisted he kept asking every day and not give up. The teacher finally assigned him to a team when another student hadn't shown up for a few weeks in a row. Regardless, he's on a team and happily building a robot. Isn't that what life is all about for a teenage boy?
Byron heard about a dogsled race going on so we donned our warm clothes and went to check it out. You have never seen dogs more excited to do anything than these dogs were to pull the sleds. So fun to watch! We will have to go again next year. Also freezing, it was freezing. We found hot chocolate in a hut and that helped a bit.
Carter and a few of his robotics teammates went to a show to demonstrate what they can do with robotics. It was a fun festival with all sorts of hands on activities. We all enjoyed ourselves.
You can see out little blue house here. We had to move out and move into a different two bedroom tiny house. These vacation rentals are killing us. We don't want to book out too far because we don't know if our house will sell and then we won't need a tiny house so - anyway. moving again. This will be Byrons fourth house since he got to Montana. Only our second.

Getting ready for the showdown. The winner of this event gets to go compete in State. Carter and his team won and were able to go on and play in Missoula. They have a few more weeks to work on their robots and prepare for the big competition.
