Imagine this. It's the dead of winter. The pond is frozen over, the snow is covering the ground. It is freezing outside. We came downstairs this morning and we found this scene. The perch is on the dog pillow. We went outside to try and solve this mystery and there was another perch on the deck....then more in the lawn as we were crossing over to the frozen pond. It dawned on me there was probably one opening where the artesian well drips in. Sure enough there was a bit of open ice and it was filled to the brim with fish. We had turned off the aerators so we could ice skate on the pond this winter. The fish were starved for oxygen and were trying to get to the one opening with air. We quickly flipped the aerators back on and the problem resolved itself by the afternoon. Luckily we didn't kill all the fish. Thanks to our dog alarm system. They saved the day.
We did it!!! We found them. We have been searching and looking and hoping. There were rumors, lots of rumors that they were nearby. We finally got a hot tip. Kenzie, Ally's friend from school was telling me she saw the snowy owls the day before when she was dropping off a friend. I was on the hunt! Once I had found one of the owls I called Byron and he was ready to leave work instantly. We went down as soon as we could and hunted them up. It was so amazing to finally get to see these beauties.
Happy birthday to my favorite guy. Byron was born on pie day, March 14. His favorite sweet treat happens to be pecan pie so we are celebrating pie day with pie for my special guy. I am so lucky to have Byron in my life. Sometimes we make decisions and we look back on them and wonder how things would be different. This is one of those decisions where I am so grateful for choosing him or for him choosing me....not sure who chose who. It was sort of like we couldn't live without each other. This boy and I....we were kids when we married and now our kids are nearly as old as we were when we met. How is this possible. I love this man and am so grateful to be living this life with him. Happy birthday B!!This is a new addition in our lives. The robot on the ground....it's a vacuum and it goes on it's own. I charge it and empty it's dust bin. It vacuums my house while I am outside or downstairs or anywhere but not vacuuming my house. It is vacuuming itself. Seriously, this is a game changer for my life. The puppy Penny sheds, a lot.... and I was to the point of getting rid of the dog. Ally was beside herself and I talked with my mom....in comes the robot vacuum to save the day. Happy daughter, happy puppy and happy mom. The pet hair is no longer taking over my house.
Indoor tournament at the Fort. This team of crazy soccer girls took first place!! Way to show them how it's done. Ally played the best games of her life. She scored something crazy like eleven points over the course of the tournament. Seriously, so much fun to watch.
Look who found our boy Carter in Las Vegas. Byron's old childhood friend Cliff Hagrus. He was on a job rotation that was stationed in Vegas for awhile so he found Carter's ward and hunted him up. He's not to hard to locate since he's the spitting image of his dad and also he's pretty dang tall. 6'4'' plus. He sort of sticks out in a crowd. So glad these two got to connect.
That says -20.....where is Maui now? I need to go back, now.
A little shopping during out temple trip to Spokane Washington. We made an appointment with the temple and books a hotel room for the night. Byron and I got to do an endowment session. The kids were able to do some baptisms for the dead. It was the perfect trip.
This is the farm across the street from our home. The mist, snow and sunlight...gorgeous.
Tyler....Tyler....Tyler....this kid is turning 16 today. We hit up Mudmans for some serious burgers and fries. Tyler's favorite restaurant in town. We are so grateful for Tyler. He is the best, seriously we love this kid. He is killing it in robotics and his skills on the trombone are awesome. I love hearing him play with the jazz band. He is always willing to help out and dig stumps. We have lots of stumps that need digging. He's always here for us and is sweet and considerate. I couldn't ask for a nicer son. This one is a keeper!!
Cleaning up after her band concert. Isn't she the cutest trumpeter!
Jazz Band concert. Don't let his shaggy hair fool you. He is engaged in school, committed to his instrument, attending early morning seminary daily (don't ask me how he gets up) and killing it with his grades. He ends every phone call with "love you." Such a good one.
Sandpoint, Idaho. Tournament weekend with my fun family. Explored a new place, enjoyed their beautiful beach. Strange thing was there was a coroner working at recovering human remains from the beach while we were there. It was pretty unreal to see this. We never did find a news article or anything.
