April 2018

It's so nice to be back to warmer days and less snow. Ally's back at it with her soccer ball-not that she ever stopped, but easier to send her outside to play when there's not snow.
Right dead center is a beaver. We had this fellow splashing around for a few days in our pond. He nibbled on a fence post and then went on his way. We're pretty sure the dogs were just too much for this beaver to handle. We were excited to stalk him and enjoyed the few days we had chasing him around with the camera.
Our neighbors dogs come over to play occasionally. We were trying to get Remy to teach Penny how to jump in for the ball. Penny didn't go for it.
Jessie has recovered mostly from her surgery. She still favors her injured leg but we are hoping with time she will make a full recovery and be able to hunt again. Doesn't she look stately on this rock? What a distinguished dog she is. We had a big tree limb go down on that side of the pond. You can see the cut to the left of Jessie where Byron had to clean up the tree. There's also still the piles of logs to the right. Byron used the chainsaw he bought me last year for this project. Glad we had it.

Spring skiing. Won't have many more trips up this year. The Big Mountain has been fun and we've enjoyed getting to know a new mountain.
Ally's birthday presents. Byron was teasing her that all we got her were fishing lures, pez and peeps. Somehow we found a missing gift in the pantry.
She really wanted this swagtron hoverboard. It runs by batteries, spins in circles and plays music. Pretty much like a party skateboard. Happy twelve year old!
Ally helped me decorate her cake this year. I love how it turned out. Very modern and sleek looking, just like Ally.
They were having a ski jump competition into the pond at the resort this weekend. It was fun to watch the costumed skiers being crazy. We headed to the lodge for hot chocolate after.
My springtime project is moving the old garden off the driveway. With ten acres at our disposal I don't see why there is an need for a garden on the driveway. Once I can get it all scooped up and hauled off we are putting in a basketball hoop for the kids. I'm totally excited.
The view from my kitchen window will be improved without the ugly garden box there as well. Nearly done! The railroad ties were way heavier than I had imagined. We'll have to recycle them into another project at some point.
These crazies at young womens. They have silo cups under their ponytails. Clever dos.
The band is being judged today for state competition. They were awarded full marks for every band at Glacier. That's the best score you can get. Mr. Barr is an amazing teacher.

Uh-oh...Jessie has been stalking this hole for an entire week now. She sits out there and waits.  Sometimes with her head inside and sometimes just sitting there patiently waiting for something to happen. We have been having to drag her into the house at night. She just wants to be "puppy guarding" this hole. That phrase makes more sense now! Turns out when Byron put the scope down the hole we are the proud owners of a skunk. In the end we used the four wheeler and a hose to gas it out. We were able to remove it and dispose of the dead skunk properly. How many skunks are we going to have this spring? Jessie is always on the job hunting up the skunks, unfortunately.
My project this week has been laying the wood mulch over the black tarp in the garden. It is looking so much better. It was probably fourteen truck loads full of mulch to get the entire garden covered. So glad it is done.
Sorry this weekend plus all the track she's been running is wearing out this hummingbird of ours.
Walking down the hall and see that Ally has been picked as the artist for the month. She didn't mention it so I'm glad I happened by. She really is quite talented.
Painters are finishing up the last of the blue window trim. So glad it's not me up there on that ladder!
Sophie and Ally having a slushy at the track meet. Track is lots of time waiting with thirty seconds of excitement followed by hours or waiting again. Fun way to spend a Friday of school though.
Brandy came with Ally and I on the tournament tour this weekend. It was fun having a friend along for the ride.
Tyler and I in Seattle. He is doing the Trial Net Type I Diabetes Study for them. They do a Glucose Tolerance Test on him and then we get the afternoon to play before we fly home.
I love the polish pottery store in the Public Market. Tyler is a good sport and hangs around on the couch until I'm done.
The tulips this spring were gorgeous. It makes me want to take a trip out to the fields where they are grown. Maybe next year.
Enjoying a freshly made donut!
Waiting for the hotel shuttle to come.
